International Dot Day is a global celebration of creativity, courage, and collaboration. It began on September 15, 2009, when teacher Terry Shay introduced his classroom to Peter H. Reynolds’ book, *The Dot*. The story is about a teacher who encourages a student to believe in her own abilities by making a simple dot on a piece of paper. This small act sparks a journey of self-discovery and creativity, inspiring countless children and adults worldwide to make their mark.
Ms. Brennan’s class dressed in dots, read and discussed the story, painted their own dots, used some smarties to do some dotty math’s and designed some ‘This is a Not a dot’ pictures to celebrate. They also made their marks together on a Dot Day poster and finished the day with some dotty cookies!
